The Curriculum
Objective: Develop fine and gross motor skills, independence, and care for self and the environment.
Implementation
- Provide child-sized tools (e.g., small brooms, dustpans, or watering cans).
- Introduce simple dressing activities (e.g., pulling socks on/off, using zippers).
- Model care of the environment, such as wiping spills or putting toys away.
Sensorial: Refine the senses and help children make sense of the world.
Implementation
- Offer a variety of sensory materials (e.g., textured balls, fabric swatches, sound boxes).
- Provide opportunities for tactile exploration (e.g., sand, water play, or playdough).
- Use mobiles and visual tracking objects for infants.
- Introduce objects with different weights, sizes, and shapes.
Objective: Foster communication and early language skills.
Implementation
- Speak clearly and frequently to the child, describing actions and objects.
- Read simple, repetitive books with bright pictures.
- Sing songs, recite nursery rhymes, and play finger games.
- Talk about objects in the environment naming them and encourage babbling or early words.
Musical: Introduce creativity, rhythm, and self-expression.
Implementation
- Play a variety of music genres and encourage movement to the beat.
- Provide simple instruments (e.g., shakers, drums, or bells).
- Offer safe, non-toxic art materials (e.g., large crayons, finger paints).
- Sing songs and incorporate music into daily routines.
